Paramedic

Reality Check is a real-life simulation activity designed to give students the opportunity to experience life as if they were 25-30 years old and providing sole or primary support of their household.  It consists of 17 stations that students must visit.  At each station the students will make decisions appropriate for their households while staying within a monthly budget. Sample stations are child care, housing, groceries, insurance, etc.

Students try to see themselves in about 10 years.  They receive a randomly assigned career, family and income scenario.  During the event, they must go to each of the 17 stations and make decisions regarding a typical expense they would face as a young adult.  They record their decisions on the check register and deduct the amount from their monthly income. The goal is to stay within the budget and still provide for their family while learning about real world decision  making and finances.
