STUDENT OF THE MONTH

September 2017

Alex is a Junior interning at ZF in the area of Supply Chain and Logistics.  Alex had to interview then attend a day of orientation in order to begin working for this nationally recognized manufacturing company.  Alex’s current task includes working on completing a presentation  on one of the assembly lines in PA3. Every line must have a description of how it operates and the materials used.  Once his presentation is complete he will present his findings to his colleagues. Alex states, “What I love the best is that I have my own office. I am working alone, but do have other coworkers and a mentor if I need help. When Alex was asked how he uses academics at his job he says, “ I use math every day. I have to take measurements with a tape measure. English principles are used all the time. While I do my task in excel and power point p I must use correct grammar.” Both soft skills and academic skills are needed in the workplace in order to be successful. Alex is also striving to earn his GeorgiaBest Soft Skills Certification and is getting great feedback from his mentors on his progress (and he is ONLY a JUNIOR)! We are very proud of you Alex, keep up the good work!

“Max’s attendance, attitude, and performance are very strong even with the crazy power outage week.   He is diligent and proactive in his communications with both myself and his managers;  he takes and retains instruction very well.  I have received a lot of unsolicited feedback from his co-workers and it is all favourable.  Max is the first student in our program and we are very pleased.
