Our Programs

All students accepted to the STEM Program will complete one pathway of study in addition to academic requirements. The Pathways are listed below and details about each can be found by clicking the green program of study button.  A sample 4-year plan of study can be seen beneath the pathway section.

Recommended 8th Grade Courses

Any eighth grade Hall County student may apply to the NHHS STEM Academy in the fall of their eighth grade year. It is strongly suggested that students complete the following courses before applying to the STEM Academy in order to be fully prepared for the upcoming STEM curriculum in ninth grade:

  • Honors 9th Literature

  • Honors Physical Science

  • Accelerated Coordinate Algebra/Geometry OR Honors Coordinate Algebra

Course 1: Foundations of Engineering

Course 2: Engineering Concepts

Course 3: Engineering Applications

BioTechnology Research & Development Pathway

Course 1: Honors Intro to Healthcare Science

Course 2: Essentials of Biotechnology

Course 3: Applications of Biotechnology

**Note: This is a proposal and is subject to edits. Elective courses in other areas are allowed. 

* WBL is required in order to earn the STEM Diploma Seal. 

 

In addition, students in the STEM Program may elect to take IB classes their junior/senior year. All IB class title are followed by Y1 or Y2, indicating "Year 1" or "Year 2". 

How to Earn the STEM Diploma Seal

Satisfactorily Complete ALL required course work including your 3 pathway courses

Pass the Credential of Value (COV) exam at the conclusion of the third pathway course.

Complete at least one unit of a Work-Based Learning Internship or
Honor's Work-Based Learning Internship
